Montrealers will need to keep out their winter coats for a little longer, as Environment Canada has issued a special winter storm warning for the areas of Metro Montreal and Laval.
According to the release, “an actual winter storm” will be reaching Longueuil – Varennes, Chateauguay – La Prairie, Laval, and the Montreal Island area.
The harsh winter conditions are a result of “a low-pressure system from the American Midwest.” Citizens who reside in greater Montreal, the Outaouais, and the Eastern Townships may also be subject to a mix of snow and freezing rain. Areas further north are likely to receive significant amounts of snowfall.
According to the statement, the storm will begin on Sunday and continue on Monday, with the movement of the low-pressure system uncertain.
As always, citizens are reminded to wear proper outerwear for the weather and to exercise caution while driving in less than ideal conditions.
