A 'wild and crazy' winter obstacle course is coming to Montreal

Winter 2017 is shaping up to be a pretty great one.

In addition to dog sledding, an ice canoe challenge, a giant game of pond hockey, an ice pirate ship, and more, we’ve just discovered that the city will also be hosting a “wild and crazy” winter obstacle course, otherwise known as Barbegazi.

Part of Montreal’s 375th birthday celebrations, Barbegazi is presented by Tribu Experientiel and will be taking place on Ilot Clark between Friday January 6th and Sunday January 15th.

The people at Tribu Experientiel are creating an outdoor course unique to Montreal. The description reads, “Get pumped for some high-energy thrills on an obstacle course that winds through an urban pine forest and across a snow-topped replica of the Jacques Cartier Bridge.”

Not only is it free to watch but it’s also free to participate in. Even better? Participants have a chance of winning a grand prize of $5000 if they finish with the fastest time.

For those who aren’t looking to get their blood rushing, Barbegazi will feature a slew of family-friendly activities in the vicinity, including snow skating, woodcutting, arm wrestling, glittering light shows, Christmas tree throwing, food trucks, giant screen presentations, and live DJs.

These will surely be weekends to remember.
