Montrealers notice a splash of colour near Champ-de-Mars Metro station starting today.
A public space next to the station is now open. The area is open temporary and features a colourful new walkway.
The City will also install benches and light fixtures in the public space. The opening is temporary due to an international multidisciplinary landscape architecture competition that is currently taking place.
The purpose of the competition is to design the remainder of the public space adjacent to Champ-de-Mars Metro station. Once complete, the space will be known as Place des Montréalaises.
According to the City, the construction budget for the public place is $34,080,000.
