Valérie Plante in isolation after Longueuil mayor tests positive for COVID-19

Montreal Mayor Valérie Plante is among five politicians who are in precautionary isolation after coming into contact with the Longueuil mayor, Sylvie Parent, who tested positive for COVID-19.

Plante joins Laval Mayor Marc Demeres and three CAQ ministers, Chantal Rouleau, Simon Jolin-Barrette, and François Bonnardel, as some had been in contact with Parent.

Parent announced on Tuesday morning that she took a test on Friday and her results came back positive on Sunday. She has since isolated herself for Quebec’s mandated 10-day quarantine.

Plante and Demers said they are both waiting for the virus’ test results and have been placed in precautionary confinement since they were present at an event that Parent was at last week.

Both mayors said they plan to continue working remotely and virtually until the 10-day precautionary isolation is over.
