The Quebec government is reporting that there are now 70 schools across the province with at least one positive COVID-19 case.

On Friday, the government released the first version of the list, and it consisted of 47 schools.

Quebec Health Minister Christian Dubé confirmed the cases during Tuesday’s press conference and said despite the number of cases, the situation is “under control.”

On Friday, Dubé said the government is committed to transparency with its citizens, especially when it comes to the health of their children. He said the list was the government’s first step in order to keep the population “informed of the spread of COVID-19″ throughout the province’s network of 3,100 education institutions.

The health ministry says it has committed to providing daily updates, starting this week.

“We understand parents’ concerns and we want to be there to reassure them,” said Dubé in French. “We hope this tool will allow the population, and more particularly parents, to get a current portrait of the entire situation.”
