There’s a new TikTok trend in town, and it involves something everybody loves: Food.

Food trends over social media tend to come and go. From cereal pancakes to rainbow bagels, charcoal ice cream, and so on.

However, there’s a new star in town taking over TikTok, the #tortillatrend. The ultimate hack for those in need of a quick and clever snack at home.

It’s a tortilla wrap with a slit halfway in the middle, and it contains four different ingredients of your choice. It is then folded to form a triangle-shaped treat. Think of a fancy quesadilla. You’ll see.

With recipes that are so customizable that it works for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and even dessert. We had to scour TikTok to find the top five tortilla trend recipes and get you inspired.

Keep in mind that these recipes are totally customizable. You can go for a basic recipe or go crazy…the choice is yours.

1. For the Breakfast Babies

Starting off with the classic white flour tortilla with a slit halfway through the middle, it is filled with ingredients that would usually be great for a breakfast. In one corner we have mashed avocado, and in the others there’s scrambled eggs, pesto paste, and cheese with sprinkled chili flakes. Fold it all together into a triangle and grill it. How’s that for a breakfast, huh?

2. A Fast Food Inspiration

Have you ever ordered a fast food sandwich you forgot about for hours and now it’s all cold and soggy? Go on and chuck the bread away, keep the rest of it, then get your tortilla wraps! In this video, the chicken from the sandwich was sliced into strips and put in a corner, then the veggies like lettuce, tomato and pickles were in another. The other two corners contained cheese…extra cheese, and fries. It was then folded into the iconic shape then pan-fried with some oil. You just turned fast food into a better one.

3. Asian Infusion

Coming from a sushi lover, this take on the trend is probably one of our favourites. Instead of using a tortilla wrap, this person opted for a seaweed wrap. They then filled all four corners with sushi rice, sauce, and tuna and folded it into a square. Like a sandwich. Another reason why we love this recipe so much is that there’s nothing to do after folding it but to eat it.

4. Vegan-Friendly

When we said everyone could participate in this food trend, we meant it. This one is an idea for the people who want to stay on the healthier and vegan-friendly side but still participate in the trend. Starting off with a vegan-friendly wrap, it is filled with avocado, sweet potato, grilled tofu and then the sauce, which consists of pesto and hummus. That combination sounds like it’sĀ not only healthy but also very delicious.

5. A Decadent Dessert

This one is for people with a sweet tooth. Crepes aren’t usually as accessible as tortilla wraps are. Although the texture of a crepe might be softer than a tortilla wrap, the flavours are quite the same in terms of being neutral. In this recipe, the tortilla wrap is filled with a chocolate spread on two of the opposite sides of the crepe, then strawberries and cookies on the other two. This is just an idea. Feel free to use fruits and spreads of your choice! Make it sweeter or tone it down. Up to you.

These are only some of the recipes that are out there.

There are endless videos with different combinations. If originality is your thing, create your own masterpiece. You might be the next TikTok star from this trend.
