In an encouraging sign that live music could return to Montreal, evenko has announced the headliners for the 2021 edition of its three-day Osheaga festival.

Scheduled to take place from July 30 to August 1, Osheaga has nabbed the Foo Fighters, Cardi B, and Post Malone as the main acts, one for each day of the giant outdoor fest.

This past summer’s edition of the festival was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic and was set to feature the Foo Fighters, Lizzo, and Kendrick Lamar as headliners.

“We are aware that we are heading into uncertain times, and we have been working relentlessly behind the scenes to create the ideal circumstances for OSHEAGA to move ahead without a hitch,” says the festival’s website. “Of course, we will follow all COVID-19 guidelines (as they evolve) and continue to update the status should anything change, but we need to plan for the future, because there IS a light at the end of the tunnel!”

It’s an optimistic time to announce performers for live events as Quebec announced its highest daily COVID-19 case increase on Saturday — 2,031 additional cases — and the province’s second-highest increase (1.691) only a day later.

If the event is cancelled or postponed, Osheaga says they will notify guests of the “exchange or refund guidelines” and procedures to follow.

“We are closely following the constantly changing situation and abiding by the new measures put in place by the Quebec government,” says Osheaga.

Weekend passes are on sale now and range from $333.50 for general admission for three days and go up to $1,259.50 for the platinum pass which includes a backstage tour, private bathroom access, and exclusive access to certain Osheaga sites on Parc Jean-Drapeau.
