This is what Newfoundland looks like after nearly 40 cm of snow (PHOTOS)

Is 2020 the year in Newfoundland or the amount of snow that has fallen?

The good news for little ones: Winter vacation was extended after Monday’s intense Atlantic Canada winter storm. The bad news for adults: Residents in St. John’s are now dealing with the aftermath of a 39 cm snowfall.

According to StJohns Weather Records, the city has 69 cm of snow on the ground, its deepest snow-day since January 12, 2014.

While Halifax is expected to get walloped with 20 cm of snow, The Weather Network is forecasting another “5 to 10 cm of snow” bound for St. John’s by Wednesday evening.

From gangs of snowblowers to “snow doors,” and piles bigger than cars, here is what Newfoundland looked like to start the week.

As our neighbours to the east dig themselves out, we hope mother nature might take it easy for at least another week.
