Get ready for more snow in Montreal.

Environment Canada has issued a “snow squall” alert for Montreal. If you’re not sure what snow squall means, it’s a system that brings sudden heavy snowfall, with blowing snow.

“A cold front will sweep across these regions late this afternoon or this evening. Snowsqualls could accompany this front and significantly reduce visibilities in snow and blowing snow,” said Environment Canada.

“After the passage of the front, temperatures will fall gradually, but significantly. As such, ice patches could locally form on roads.”

The alert is in effect for the following regions:

  • Châteauguay – La Prairie area
  • Laval area
  • Longueuil – Varennes area
  • Montréal Island area

Take note that snow squalls can make travelling hazardous, and impact visibility on the roads.

While conditions for during the day will bring a few flurries or rain showers, Environment Canada says the blowing snow could begin tonight.

However, Friday conditions will clear up. At least we know some sun is on the way!
