Free rent offered as move-in incentive at these Montreal properties

Montreal landlords and property managers have increasingly offered rental incentives since the spring, some even including free rent as move-in motivation.

Because of the pandemic, supply has increased and demand has decreased when it comes to rental properties across the city.

With a lack of jobs and tourism, a decreased need for students to rent out space, and people moving back in with family, Rentals.ca has highlighted nine properties in and around Montreal offering free rent.

“In Toronto, Montreal, and Vancouver, renters are finding most incentives on luxury
units, downtown units, new units and condos, while landlords with fewer units offer
incentives such as free parking or shorter leases,” says Rentals.ca, in an email with Daily Hive.

The Ottawa-based rental agency says incentives could continue to be offered through 2022, depending on how quickly COVID-19 vaccines are distributed and how quickly rental demand can catch up to supply.
