These 7 festive foodie restos in Montreal will get you into the holiday spirit

Dec 17 2019, 5:03 pm

The holidays are undeniably the best time of the year in  our city. From festive decor, sparkling lights, and personalized Christmas trees, Montreal is absolutely shining throughout December.

But let’s be honest, do you really feel like staying in and cooking?

With so many delicious and festive food options around the island, get out and explore what Montreal’s vibrant and jolly food scene is offering throughout the holidays.

And what better way to travel from restaurant to restaurant than the Hyundai Venue — Hyundai’s newest and most affordable SUV. It’s the perfect vehicle to drive while exploring the downtown core or for that spontaneous road trip, not to mention spacious enough to bring home a Christmas tree (or two).

2020 Venue/Hyundai Canada

We’ve teamed up with Hyundai to bring you seven venues around Montreal that are great options for a dinnertime holiday adventure.

Miracle on de la Commune (The Coldroom)

@miraclemontreal/Instagram

Miracle pops up at over 80 cities around the globe every year, partnering with local bars to inspire Christmas cheer through festive decorations, quirky parties, ugly X-Mas sweaters, and of course, seasonal cocktails and grub.

This season, Miracle Montreal has set up shop at the well-hidden speakeasy, The Coldroom. Load as many friends as you can into the Venue, sync up your tunes, and check out this über cool venue (see what we did there?).

Lucille’s Oyster Dive

With locations in Westmount, Monkland Village, Laval, and Saint-Henri, this quaint oyster spot is worth a night all on its own. Hop from Lucille’s to Lucille’s and drink in the holiday ambiance; each of the popular seafood-restaurants fuse holiday decor with their already-stylish and casual maritime look.

Address: 5669 Avenue de Monkland; 4124 Ste. Catherine Ouest; 2565 Boul. Daniel-Johnson; 4855 Notre-Dame Ouest

Gibbys Restaurant

Since 1969, Gibbys has been arguably dishing out the tastiest steaks (and salmon) in Montreal. Even if the weather is tough this month, simply switch on Snow Mode (it distinguishes packed from deep snow and adjust traction accordingly) and cruise into the Old Port for some famous steaks and the type of holiday decor that’ll make you feel like you’re sitting at a cozy cottage beside the fire.

Address:  298 Place d’Youville

Méchant Boeuf

Méchant Boeuf’s stylish red decor and decadent AAA Angus beef is a perfect mix for the holidays. After struggling to choose between the steakhouse’s ribs, steak tartare, or Cornish hen (or maybe just share all three?), slip back into your Hyundai Venue and let the car’s heated seats carry you home for a nightcap.

Address: 124 Rue Saint-Paul Ouest

Le Petit Dep

Le Petit Dep is a quaint little convenient store in Old Montreal that doubles as a tasty sandwich shop. Head into the charming dépanneur for a combination of holiday cheer, a tasty cup of Joe, and oodles of Montreal souvenirs that’ll make for great Christmas gifts.

And don’t worry, you’ll have plenty of space to bring home all the potential gifts you want to buy.

XO Le Restaurant

Why not ring in the holidays by dining inside an 1870s banker’s hall?

The Michelin-starred restaurant is an elegant choice for supper and drinks, and the restaurant offers soaring ceilings and a grandeur that can be experienced throughout the dining room, lounge, and two spectacular mezzanines, all fully decked out in sparkling holiday cheer.

Hambar Restaurant

This stylish restaurant, open 365 days a year, serves great charcuterie platters, vintage wines, specialty hams, and Instagram-worthy desserts in a chic decor. Hambar goes all-in for the holidays: think crystal lighting, Nutcracker window displays, and an impressive list of seasonal drinks. This versatile neighbourhood spot transitions easily from chic to cozy, mimicking the very car you drove up in.

Address: 355 Rue McGill

Nobody should start off a festive food frenzy by being cold, which is why the Hyundai Venue is full of features including heated front seats and steering wheel, keyless entry with remote start, and automatic temperature control. Seamless connectivity features, including standard 8” display with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, let your guests play DJ as you cruise around the city in style.

But it’s not all about style; substance matters, too. The Hyundai Venue offers plenty of safety features to help your city driving including: Blind-Spot Collision Warning, Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist, and Rear Cross-Traffic Collision Warning.

We should state that while your Hyundai Venue is an ideal ride to get you around the city, if anyone is going to be drinking, plan ahead by bringing a designated driver with you.

Get behind the wheel of a Venue today or learn more at Hyundai Canada’s website — it may just be the best holiday gift you’ve ever given yourself.
