Rain or shine, pandemic or not, nothing can stop Montreal from celebrating its annual Montréal en lumière festival.
The event, which started on March 4 and is set to end on March 28, was adapted this year to comply with pandemic measures. The programming was largely food-centred, showcasing local restaurants to order takeout from, and other activities encouraged people to go outside to check out the illuminated installations in the Quartier des spectacles.
However, the real fun took place this weekend, with the festival’s landmark Nuit blanche program, where online events and activities ran all night long.

The festival’s organizers have still gone all out for their decoration of the city. They’ve brought back their interactive installation Loop, the optical storytelling wheels scattered across Place des arts.
If you haven’t seen the lit-up festival site, here are some pictures to experience the full event virtually. If you’ve posted some photos of your trip to the Quartier des spectacles, don’t forget to tag us on Instagram and to use the hashtag #dailyhivemtl.
