5 things to do in Montreal today: Tuesday, February 26

Montreal’s dealt with enough so far this winter. As we long for March, here are five things to check out in the city today, February 26, that’ll help speed up the end of the month.

Montréal en Lumière

The festival primarily aims to light up Montreal during the dark days on winter with dining events, live performances, free all-night activities and innovative art installations.

Though the event coordinates the display of light installations in specific locations around the city, the focal point of Montréal en Lumière is the Quartier des Spectacles and Place des Festivals.

Local DJs, live bands, an illuminated Ferris wheel, and an incredible 360-foot ice slide take over the festival site as well as a two-city-block long zip line that allows festival-goers to zoom over the colourful site.

The site doesn’t only boast mesmerizing sights, but also top-notch gourmet food stations, selling everything from soups to keep you nice and toasty, to maple syrup products and cheese fondue.

MNM Festival

For its 50th anniversary, the Société de musique contemporaine du Québec (SMCQ) is presenting the eighth annual festival Montréal / Nouvelles Musiques (MNM).

The festival hosts more than 20 concerts, orchestras, solo shows and conferences as a celebration of contemporary music for 10 days.

Matty Matheson

Tonight, Elise Tastet, editor-in-chief of Tastet.ca, will lead a discussion in English with the eccentric chef, famous for his appearances on Munchies and Jimmy Kimmel Live!, as well as for being the colourful host of It’s Suppertime and Dead Set on Life.

Matheson will also present his book Matty Matheson: A Cookbook, which you will be able to purchase on site and have signed.

Honey Martin Trivia

Honey Martin is a cozy Irish Pub in NDG that hosts arguably the busiest pub trivia in town. They do six rounds of ten questions. A winner is rewarded each round with either a round of drinks or a round of shots. A round for a round ‚Äď solid deal.

The questions are all general knowledge and the trivia host is interactive and funny. Buy him a shot and he’ll go easy on you.
