Somehow, it’s already getting close to the end of the month. As we settle into the last Thursday of October, we’ve put together a list of things to check out in Montreal today, October 25, as you set your sights on the final weekend of October as well.

Don’t be scared, but there’s plenty of Halloween-themed events happening in the city today.

Malefycia’s Zone 4

With Halloween only a few days away, Malefycia ramps up its presence of being a mix of the traditional haunted house fused with interactive theatre.

The event uses custom-built scenarios with professional actors, props and settings to bring their guests’ worst nightmares into reality.

This year’s theme is called Zone 4 and it focuses on military experiments gone wrong and the event’s antagonist, as per the Malefycia website, is “the most dangerous of all demons: the man.”

Surfaces Art Exhibition

Surfaces is an urban art exhibition that features a variety of local artist’s work from a variety of landscapes around Montreal.

Participating artists include 123klan, Axe Lalime, Cedar-Eve, A’shop (Ankh One et Monk.E), Garbage Beauty (Vincent Box et Romain Boz), Her, Labrona, MissMe, Mtlight Collective, Omen Art, Roadsworth, Shalak Attack, Stare, Zek One, ZÏLON, and Zoltan Veevaete.

Festival SPASM

How about some scary movies?

Returning for its 17th edition, the SPASM film festival was created to encourage and explore the various horror genre films from Quebec cinema and international French films.

Sure, Hocus Pocus and Casper were scary when you were a kid, but SPASM aims to showcase all films that are gruesome, quirky, terrifying, thrilling and edge-of-your-seat enjoyable.

Old Port Ghost Tour

Explore Old Montreal in a different way and meet the spirits and ghosts that haunt its streets. Be warned, witches, charlatans and former criminals await for you in the dark corners.

Professional actors take you on a tour of memories, legends, stories, mysteries and secrets of the historic Old Port of Montreal.

Pumpkinferno

Pumpkinferno (besides having a great name) showcases over 7,000 handcrafted pumpkins which are lit up at night along a one-kilometre path set against a 19th-century backdrop. Some are individual pumpkins and some are fused together to make some outstanding art.
