Montreal is the most cost-effective market in North America for tech firms

Montreal’s top ranking list just keeps growing. According to a report by the CBRE’s 2018 North American Scoring Tech Talent, Montreal has been named the most cost-effective tech firm market in all of North America.

Scoring Tech Talent is an analysis of labour market conditions in the US and Canada for highly skilled tech workers. The top-50 markets were ranked according to appeal to tech employers and tech talent.

On the overall spectrum, Montreal ranked 14th in the annual ranking, just behind Ottawa at number 13 and Toronto at number 4.

Montreal however, bested all North American cities when it comes to effectiveness of tech markets.

The analysis provides insight into the quality of tech talent, their demographics and how tech talent growth patterns are impacting cities and real estate markets.

Taking into consideration talent and real estate costs, the estimated cost of a 500-person tech firm in Montreal is $27.6 million USD, considerably lower than the cheapest US market of Rochester, New York at $36.3 million USD.
