One lucky Quebec artist will get the chance to display their work on the streets of Montreal.

The City has launched a $1 million competition to create a public art installation that will be displayed at the central square of the Outremont site, facing the future Campus MIL of the University of Montreal.

The art will be showcased in a new development set to be built on land which formerly served a rail yard.

A selection panel will choose four finalists to submit their proposal.

Each of the finalists will receive $ 9,000 for their entry.

The contest is open to professional artists with Canadian citizenship, or landed immigrant status, who have resided in Quebec for at least one year.

Artists have until noon on Monday, April 16, to submit their application.
