The Canadiens and Ducks played a socially distant hockey game this weekend

The Montreal Canadiens will take a win any way they can these days, even if it’s in the virtual form.

And to be honest, considering the idle sports world right now, we might too.

The Habs faced off against the Anaheim Ducks on Sunday as scheduled, just not in the physical form at California’s Honda Center.

Instead, the Canadiens visited the Ducks through a computer versus computer stream on Playstation 4’s NHL 20.

“Staying safe by staying home doesn’t mean we can’t have live hockey,” stated the Montreal Canadiens social channels as the simulated Canadiens beat the replicate Ducks 3-1.

The Canadiens social teams had some fun with the electronic game, even highlighting that “good things happen when eGally goes to the net.” And, for what’s worth, having a virtual Brendan Gallagher drive the net is pretty realistic.

The VR Bleu Blanc Rouge will be back at it tomorrow versus the Los Angeles Kings but this time fans can act as the coach by replying to the Canadiens’ Twitter thread and submitting a lineup.

Bare with us, hockey world. Desperate times call for desperate measures.

Note: With coronavirus on the rise, Quebec Public Health is reminding individuals who attend events and large gatherings to monitor their health for signs and symptoms of COVID-19. And if you’re not feeling well, they recommend staying home at this time. Also, due to unexpected cancellations, please check the event you plan to attend is still taking place. Keep up with COVID-19 news here.
