Mont-Royal Avenue is closing for a sidewalk sale and party

May 12 2018, 6:01 am

For four days at the start of June, Mont-Royal avenue will be closed to vehicle traffic, yet another road closure to add to Montreal’s grocery list of closed streets.

This one’s not all bad, however, as the four-day closure is to make way for the Summer Trade Show on Mont-Royal Avenue. Taking place from Thursday, May 31 to Sunday, June 3, the eclectic display of shops from Mont-Royal will make their move to the sidewalks and streets and extend their hours.

Over the span of two kilometres, the streets will transform into a massive clearance sale, with all stores pushing their closing time back to 11 pm.

In addition to the sales, there will be a wide range of activities and attractions for visitors both young and old.

A children’s section will be set up with giant inflatables, a spider tower, mini train, face painting, mini-golf, a magician, clowns, and balloon animals, all free of charge.

An older audience will be able to enjoy live performances from hired DJs, who will be performing in the lunch area from mid-afternoon till late at night.

For visitors of all ages, the sidewalk sale will also feature a “create-your-own Emoji”, with a chance to scan your face and turn yourself into a printable Emoji – free of charge!

The event starts on Thursday, May 31 at 10 am and will run nightly until Sunday, June 3, ending at 5 pm. Admission to the sale is free.
