Grocery shopping – some people take great pleasure in it while others just consider it a another chore.

But what if you had a list? AND someone else’s credit card? AND, you actually made a little cash for doing it?

It’s coming.

Instacart is about to enter Canada with the announcement that Loblaw is rolling out online ordering and delivery. It’s the first international market for the website and app founded in San Francisco in 2012 and already operating in over 150 markets.

The service partners with retailers including national chains as well as local grocers and prides itself on helping people “cross grocery shopping off their to-do lists with just a few clicks.”

Maybe neater still, is the opportunity that Instacart provides towards making a little side cash.

The company hires shoppers in contract roles offering unlimited and flexible hours simply for doing someone else’s shopping. A car, a valid driver’s license, and the ability to lift a reasonable weight are literally the only qualifications necessary. They even give you a pre-paid credit card for when you’re ready to check-out.

With all that extra cash, maybe you’ll actually be able to shop at Loblaws yourself… or at the very least earn mad PC Optimum points?
