Environment Canada issues frost advisory for Montreal

We’re just over a week into the new month and Mother Nature will bring some “brr” to October tonight.

Environment Canada has issued a frost advisory for Montreal and its surrounding areas as temperatures will fall “slightly below the freezing mark” in specific regions tonight.

Frost advisories are issued when temperatures are expected to reach the freezing mark during the growing season, leading to potential damage and destruction to plants and crops.

It currently feels like 7ÂșC in Montreal, and temperatures are expected to dip to just below freezing, reaching -1ÂșC at 4 am on Friday morning.

The chilly weather is expected to persist throughout the day Friday before jolting up to 23ÂșC on Saturday (along with thunderstorms).

The frost advisory, issued today at 11:20 am, is in effect for the following areas:

  • ChĂąteauguay – La Prairie area
  • Laval area
  • Longueuil – Varennes area
  • MontrĂ©al Island area

“Frost may damage frost-sensitive fruit trees and vegetable plants,” states the advisory.
