Apr 6 2021, 1:07 pm

Quebec Premier François Legault has a COVID-19 announcement scheduled for Tuesday evening.

According to the premier’s daily agenda, he will be joined by Health Minister Christian Dubé and the director of public health, Dr. Horacio Arruda, at 5 pm from Montreal.

No additional details were provided as to what the announcement is regarding but throughout the pandemic, Legault has generally used evening press conferences to announce changes to public health rules.

On Monday, the Ministère de la Santé et des Services sociaux announced the province’s sixth consecutive day of over 1,000 daily COVID-19 case increases along with an increase in hospitalizations.

Leading up to the Easter long weekend, Legault announced four regions across Quebec will undergo a tightening of COVID-19 restrictions.

As of April 1, Outaouais, La Capitale-Nationale (Quebec City), Bas-St-Laurent, and Chaudiere-Appalaches were downgraded to red zones after an uptick in coronavirus cases.
