Health officials have identified two more presumptive cases of the novel coronavirus in British Columbia.
The latest patients are in the same family as a woman in her 50s who was identified as BC’s second confirmed coronavirus patient earlier this week, Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry told reporters Thursday.
The pair are a man and a woman their 30s who live in China’s Hubei province, where the outbreak began. They’re visiting the woman in her 50s, and health officials believe one of the visitors probably transmitted the virus to the other two patients.
“There was some concern expressed that perhaps this was asymptomatic transmission – but that’s not the case,” Henry said.

She explained the young patients displayed quite mild symptoms that “appeared like a common cold.”
All three people in that family with the virus remain in isolation in their home in the Vancouver Coastal Health region.

In Canada, there are five confirmed cases of coronavirus, three in Ontario and two in BC.
