Cirque du Soleil will hitting the “la glace” this winter at the Bell Centre as the company’s new show, AXEL, carves its way to Montreal.

Fusing skating, acrobatics, live music, dancing, and stunning graphics, Cirque du Soleil is bringing their “ice spectacle” to the company’s founding city from December 19 to 29.

“Get ready for amazing music, stunning projections, and mind-blowing acrobatic skating performances,” reads the show’s website.

The show’s story follows Axel and his crew on an on-ice adventure as he follows his passion for music and arts while taking viewers on an “electrifying journey,” according to the Cirque du Soleil website. “See sparks fly as Axel falls for the captivating Lei. Together they jet off on a fast-moving quest through fantastic and colourful worlds to retrieve the stolen light from the mystical Vi. Will Axel find his voice and fulfill his destiny?”

“The success of our first creation on ice has reinforced our ambition to further explore the extensive creative possibilities of a frozen playground,” said Daniel Fortin, Vice President of Cirque du Soleil Creation, in May. “With Cirque du Soleil AXEL, we will offer a truly electrifying experience to all audiences, pushing the boundaries of creativity with the unique approach that has forged the reputation of Cirque du Soleil.”
