Five members of the Canadian military have tested positive for COVID-19 after working in long-term care homes in Ontario and Quebec.

Roughly 265 Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) members are assisting at five long-term care facilities across the Greater Toronto Area and another 125 were deployed to CHSLDs in Quebec to fortify the supply of much needed staff.

All CAF members arrived in response to a request for assistance from the federal government.

The Canadian Armed Forces confirmed that four of its members tested positive in Quebec and one in Ontario.

As of May 15, the CAF will publicly post COVID-19 cases within members employed on Operation Laser in Ontario and Quebec.

“These numbers are based on the most recent information that has been reported,” states the release. “The next update will be provided on Friday, 29 May” on the website.

No names of the members nor which long-term care they had been working at was released.
