This new Italian shop is offering $2 beer all week

Now that you’ve had a few days to get over stuffing your face with Thanksgiving Dinner, get back on the feast-train with a little Italian sandwich and discounted beer combo.

To celebrate the opening of California Sandwiches’ first location in Quebec, the owners are offering $2 pints of Carlsberg with the purchase of any sandwich at their shiny new location on Saint-Denis.

Originally from Toronto in the mid 1960s, California Sandwiches pride themselves as a “family owned and operated” business. Initially owned by the Papa/Bertucci family, they purchased a local grocery store and quickly discovered they had a knack for making tasty sandwiches when customers kept returning for lunch instead of groceries.

There are now 14 California Sandwiches spots in Ontario and Quebec’s inaugural shop opened in Montreal this past weekend.

“Our classic is the veal cutlet sandwich,” Saint-Denis’ owner Cristina tells Daily Hive. “They’re all made with our homemade tomato sauce and we figured our new customers wouldn’t mind a $2 beer to wash it all down.”

The restaurant’s kaiser buns are baked by an Italian bakery and delivered every morning and the shop’s cheeses and produce are bought and prepared for use as needed.

“Quality food and attention to detail have kept this business strong and valued,” reads the California Sandwiches website.

The Saint-Denis location’s menu includes their “famous” veal sandwich, chicken, eggplant, meatball, sausage, steak, and veggie options as well as peppers, onions, rapini, and mushroom toppings (among pasta, lasagna, salads, and more).

California Sandwiches also caters to large groups and events and pick-up orders can be placed online and through their app.

The Italian shop’s $2 pint deal runs from now until October 27.

Happy pairing!
