Downtown Montreal's iconic Bar B Barn restaurant to close down for good

One of downtown Montreal’s most iconic restaurants has closed its doors for good.

Bar B Barn, the landmark BBQ spot, which has been in operation on Guy Street since 1967, won’t be able to overcome the COVID-19 pandemic.

According to the restaurant’s Facebook page, the dining area of the narrow building won’t be able to adhere to public health’s new COVID-19 guidelines.

“COVID-19 has forced ownership to face a harsh reality, the restaurant simply cannot continue to financially support itself,” says the restaurant. “Our building is too narrow, and our dining rooms too small for us to be able to safely and properly serve customers, while still generating enough sales and revenue to keep the lights on.”

Bar B Barn’s West Island location has been delivering take out since March and will be hosting a ‘goodbye cook off’ for its sister location in the coming weeks.

Bar B Barn

The Bar B Barn franchise is known for its fall-off-the-bone ribs, its delicious BBQ chicken, inexpensive meals, and its conveniently found location next to the bustling streets of downtown Montreal, specifically the Bell Centre.

“Endings are never easy, but we feel special and consider it a true honour to have served Montreal and itā€™s [sic] visitors for the last 50+ years. None of this would have been possible and a few thank yous are in order before we say goodbye.”
