One of the world’s largest companies is bringing a fulfillment centre to Montreal.
On Friday, Amazon Canada revealed plans to open its first Quebec facility. The site will be located in Lachine. The company says it will be staffed with 300 full-time employees.
New Amazon Canada employees at Lachine’s centre will get “comprehensive pay and benefits, starting day one, in a safe, innovative workplace,” according to the company’s news release.
These benefits are said to include medical, vision, and dental coverage, a group RRSP plan and performance-based bonuses.
The new site plans to be ready in time for the 2020 holiday shopping season.

According to Amazon Canada, workers will pack and ship items ranging from toys to small electronics.

Amazon will offer employees access to innovative programs like Career Choice, where it will pay up to 95% of tuition for courses related to in-demand fields, regardless of whether the skills are relevant to a career at Amazon Canada.
