From pole dancing to stand up paddle boarding, there are several ways to get fit without sticking to a boring routine. Goodbye treadmill and hello silk ribbons!

Barre Class


Get your exercise on at a barre class at Victoria Park. Their fun and creative barre classes will make you feel like a real life ballerina. Join a basic barre class or try out barrelates or barre circuit – whichever class you choose, you’re in for a full body workout.

Pole Dancing Class

Bet you’ve heard by now that pole dancing is an unbelievable workout. However, it’s also somewhat of an art. Lucky for you, Alternative Fitness in Montreal offers beginner pole dancing classes to all those interested. After your first beginner’s class, you are free to delve into the world of Pole Flow, Pole Intermediate, Pole Advanced, and Pole Expert. Get ready for bikini season because your ab muscles are going to be out of this world.

Silks & Hammock Class


Ever wanted to be a circus performer without actually being one? Well here’s your chance. Feel like you’re in the cast of Cirque du Soleil this summer by taking a silks and hammock class at Studio CirQus. Soar through the air and tone muscles you didn’t know existed for just $21.95 per class. If a silks and hammock class doesn’t interest you, Studio CirQus has a wide range of classes on their summer 2016 schedule including Aeria Fusion and Trap & Lycra.

Stand Up Paddle Boarding Lesson

Enjoy the great outdoors in one of Montreal’s most beautiful parks. Parc Jean-Drapeau offers stand-up paddle boarding (SUP) lessons throughout the summer. Get out on the water with your paddle and board and works those arms and abs! Introduction lessons start at $44.95, but if you’re looking for something a little more adventurous, they also offer SUP yoga classes.

Rooftop yoga Class


What’s better than a rooftop bar? A rooftop yoga studio, of course! Santropol Roulant is hosting rooftop yoga classes all summer from May 18th until August 4th. Every Saturday there will be two classes, the first from 10 am to 11:30 am aimed at beginners, and the second from 12 pm to 1:30 pm for all those intermediate yogis. The courses are run by Montreal-based yoga instructors, Jennifer Krubidos and Justine Romanoff.

Bruno Mars Spin Class

Spin Energie is Montreal’s premiere spinning studio. Founded by Montreal-native (and Gilmore Girls star) Yanic Truesdale, Spin Energie provides a high intensity cardio workout. However, it’s not just your average spinning studio. In addition to having some of the best instructors in Canada, Spin Energie has themed evenings where you can spin your heart out to tracks from your favourite artists. This month features a Bruno Mars Spin Class and past honorees have included Beyonce, Jay Z, and Rihanna. Keep an eye on their schedule because your favourite musician might be next!

Trampoline Class

Feel like a kid again at ReboundFit’s trampoline exercise class! Called ReboundFit after the name given to the mini trampolines (a.k.a. rebounders) used in each of their classes, rebounding is a low-impact, full-body form of exercise. Offering 45 minute express workout classes and hardcore dance party workout classes, you’re sure to have a good time and get healthy doing it at ReboundFit.

Mermaid Swimming Class


We bet you never thought The Little Mermaid would become a reality. Thanks to Aqua Mermaid, you can be a mermaid for the day at the Montreal Aquadome. Beginner classes are available throughout the summer and will have you splashing that tail and working those abs as you make your way through the water. Be sure to wear your seashell bikini!
