Your ugly holiday sweater could get you priority boarding

Alaska Airlines is channelling its holiday spirit by offering passengers wearing any variation of a holiday sweater priority boarding on December 20, National Ugly Sweater Day.

Employees and guests alike will participate in the one-day-only promotion that includes all Horizon Air and Alaska flights.

“We know holiday travel can be stressful for some, which is why we’ve made sure flying with the ‘merrier carrier’ this time of year is an experience that brings nonstop joy to all our guests,” said Natalie Bowman, Alaska Airlines’ managing director of marketing and advertising, in a statement. “We love going above and beyond to make your trip memorable; celebrating Ugly Sweater Day is just another way we’re making the holidays a priority.”

The airline is commemorating the holiday season through December with holiday décor and festive boarding music.

Additionally, free holiday movies will be offered on flights to ensure that flyers have a merry and bright experience.

This year, Alaska Airlines is furthering its festivities with a holiday-themed plane called “Snowplane,” which is flying throughout the airline’s network during the winter ski season.

As well, Alaska Lounges will feature holiday-themed drinks and cocktails, such as peppermint mochas and “snowflake sprinkled lattes,” with a special hot toddy cocktail available on National Ugly Sweater Day.

Passengers are invited to share their holiday sweater fun by using the hashtags #iFlyAlaska and #UglySweaterDay on any and all social media posts.
