Low-cost Canadian airline Sunwing is celebrating the frontline heroes who have been tirelessly and selflessly combatting the COVID-19 pandemic by giving away 100 free all-inclusive vacations to Royalton Luxury Resorts.

The initiative, called Hero Vacations, is asking Canadians to submit nominations for frontline workers that they believe deserve a vacation.

Healthcare professionals, emergency responders, or any person who has contributed to protecting the health and safety of Canadians during this trying time are all eligible nominees.

“We want to do our part to thank these frontline heroes who step up each and every day, putting their lives at risk to save lives and ensure we have our essentials,” president and CEO of Sunwing, Stephen Hunter, said in a press release.

“With Sunwing’s Hero Vacations, we hope to highlight amazing stories of everyday Canadians’ courage and care and thank those workers by making their vacation dreams come true, giving them a week of much-deserved rest, relaxation and luxury.”

Those wishing to nominate their favourite frontline heroes can do so in two ways. They can submit their nomination through a digital form online or post a photo to Instagram of the frontline hero using the hashtag #SunwingCelebratesHeroes. Be sure to tag @sunwingvacations as well.

If they are submitting via social media, users should also add a summary in the caption of the photo describing why their nominee deserves a holiday getaway. As well, users’ profiles must be public, or else their submission will not be entered.

Nominations for Sunwing’s Hero Vacations opened on May 14 and will close on June 30. A full outline of the terms and conditions can be found on the Sunwing website.
