Experience the mountains and northern lights on this train in Alaska

‘Tis the season for winter wonderment, and Alaska Railroad is providing just that.

This winter, guests aboard The Aurora train can experience the charming beauty and allure that the spanning landscape of Alaska has to offer while indulging in captivating views of the northern lights.

The journey lasts seven days, wherein passengers can engage in multiple Alaskan winter excursions.

Originating in Anchorage, the train travels to Talkeetna, where passengers have the option of embarking on a flight-seeing excursion to see the highest peak in North America, Denali.

Guests can also partake in a guided dog-sledding tour with an “Iditarod champion kennel,” according to the company website.

The final destination is Fairbanks. However, before then, passengers can take in the stunning scenery as they journey along the edge of Denali National Park and through the Alaska Range.

Upon arrival, guests can take a guided tour of Interior Alaska’s largest city before embarking on a quest to see the northern lights on a guided aurora lodge tour.

To relax after a long night of spying the northern lights, passengers can unwind in the Chena Hot Springs before searching for the aurora all over again.

The price of the tour starts at $1,409 ($1,854 CAD) per person, based on double occupancy, with the first trip leaving on Christmas Day and the package offer going on until March 2020.
