Stunning natural light phenomenon spotted in Canada (PHOTOS)

While most of our social media feeds are currently flooded with typical Canadian winter photos, like frozen lakes and snowfalls, a number of Canadians recently shared some photos of an incredibly rare natural phenomenon.

On Saturday, December 29, a group of night owls in Manitoba witnessed an incredible sight, when just the right conditions caused light pillars to appear across parts of the province.

And thankfully, they were quick to grab their cameras and snap a few photos of the magical display.

According to AccuWeather, light pillars are an optical phenomenon caused when light is refracted by ice crystals. These lights tend to take on the colour of the light source.

While many people have experiencing the Northern Lights at the top of their bucket lists, seeing the incredible light pillars in person is definitely a close second.
