Naomi Campbell wears hazmat suit in airport during coronavirus outbreak

World-renowned English supermodel Naomi Campbell made waves on Instagram on Tuesday after posting images of herself donning a full-on hazmat suit while travelling through Los Angeles International Airport (LAX).

It is not the first time that the model has illustrated great concern surrounding germs and illness while flying. She posted a YouTube video back in July 2019, taking viewers through her intense pre-flight ritual, in which she completely wipes down any surface that she could possibly touch. She also brings her own seat cover.

“It’s my health, and it makes me feel better,” she states in the video

In this sense, it may not come as quite as much of a surprise that the 49-year-old model went to such extreme measures to protect herself from germs, especially amidst the ongoing coronavirus outbreak that has many travellers concerned for their health and safety.

One photo shows her covered head to toe in a hazmat suit complete with surgical gloves and a face mask while the other shows her aboard the aircraft with a cape draped over the suit.

The post was captioned with “Safety First NEXT LEVEL.”

The reactions to the photos have been mixed, with some commending Campbell for her extreme precautionary measures.

Anastasia Soare, CEO and founder of cosmetics brand Anastasia Beverly Hills, commented: “Hahaha❤️new fashion.”

Other followers were also quick to praise Campbell.

One user wrote, “Safety, but make it fashion!!!” while another wrote, “Very smart. if you have to travel right now that’s the only way.”

However, others found the post overdramatic and criticized Campbell for contributing to the ongoing panic currently being experienced by the public.

One person commented, “I really love you but looks like you’re trying to make something funny out of it. People are dying, struggling…and you as a philanthropist should not take this lightly.”

Users also posted comments such as “Overreaction and hypochondria 🤢” and “Is she going to WUHAN? Wtf is this?! 😩😂😂😂”

While taking necessary precautions to protect one’s health against the further spread of the coronavirus is essential, Campbell’s post is exactly how she described it: “Next level.”
