Vancouver's Kitsilano Pool named one of world's best swimming spots

News outletĀ CNN has recognized Vancouver’s Kitsilano Pool as one of the best places in the world to go swimming.

CNN included the iconic city-run pool in their annual ranking of the world’s most idyllic swimming holes.

“Located right on the bay, the pool, which is open from May through September, has views back across to the heart of the city, with mountains in the distance,” CNN wrote.

It also acknowledged the novelty of being able to watch seaplanes coming in while doing head-up laps.

This is the second year in a row Kitsilano Pool made the list. In 2019, it got a nod for being one of the best ocean-side spots for a dip.

The turquoise pool is North America’s largest outdoor pool, and its picturesque location next to Kits Beach makes it a popular spot for visitors and locals alike.

This year, the deck looks a little different because staff have marked six-foot boxes on deck to encourage physical distancing.

Because of the pandemic, online reservations are now required to visit the pool. They can be made on the City of Vancouver’s website.
