Eiffel Tower zip line offers stunning views at 90 km/h

If you’re looking to add some thrills to your Paris itinerary, why not zoom across the skyline at 90 km/h?

For a limited time, you can zip line from the Eiffel Tower! Well, if you’re lucky.

Around 260 participants will be selected through a social media contest running from May 29 to June 2. Winners of the online raffle will get their chance to ride between May 29 and June 11.

Ziplining is a much safer (and less frowned upon) adventure than free climbing the Eiffel Tower, as one man recently decided to do. But before you enter the raffle, you might want to know what you’re signing up for.

The zip line starts at the second level of the Eiffel Tower and carries passengers over the length of the Champ de Mars to a landing spot at École Militaire. The second level platform stands 115 meters high. From there, the ride covers an 800-meter distance at nearly 90 km/h.

“The idea is simple: put yourselves in the shoes of a tennis ball during a match!” Le Figaro says.

The experience, organized by Perrier, celebrates Roland-Garros (otherwise known as the French Open). The event also coincides with the 130th anniversary of the Eiffel Tower.

Volunteers have courageously tested the zip line to ensure it works. “It feels softer than it looks,” a volunteer told Le Figaro. She hailed it as an “incredible” experience.

To win your flight, post your story and location, mention @perrierfr and #SMASHPERRIER, and cross your fingers! Visit Perrier France’s Instagram page for more information (albeit in French)

If you miss your chance this year, don’t be too discouraged. Perrier also installed a zip line in 2017. This could become a regular thing!
