“Even though we are far apart, we are united by our faith,” one Instagram user wrote.

“A beautiful image to remind us that we should be ALWAYS united, not only in the moments of crisis. One planet against the enemy,” another posted.

At this time, the statue remains closed to the public. Still, the gesture itself shows the open-heartedness of Brazilian people and their passion for projecting support to their fellow global citizens across the world affected by the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

According to Johns Hopkins University, the total number of confirmed cases of coronavirus globally is over 258,000, with 793 confirmed cases in Brazil.
