Over 1,500 cannabis industry leaders and policymakers gathered at the Westin Bayshore last week for the Vancouver stop of The International Cannabis Business Conference (ICBC).
The event kicked off with a keynote from one of the most influential people in the global cannabis industry, Lori Ajax, Chief of California Bureau of Cannabis Control — who oversees the world’s largest cannabis market as of 2019.
The conference panels covered everything from the global cannabis market to current local Vancouver regulations and policies, as well as the emerging possibilities of edibles, topicals, and extracts market.
Other panels focused on the big vs small companies in the industry, mergers and acquisitions, and how Canadian companies are providing the regulatory frameworks for the global industry.
The science of cannabis and technological breakthroughs since Canadian legalization was also a hot topic of discussion as medical research has created new opportunities in the medical industry.
From local dispensaries and farmers to cannabis media, to international companies showcasing their innovative new product, ICBC attendees had plenty to see and learn from exhibitors.
The event even included special guest speaker John Salley (NBA Champion, actor, and investor) who advocated pardons for those with cannabis possession charges across Canada and the US.
If you missed this year, don’t worry the International Cannabis Business Conference will be back in Vancouver for September 2020.
