The Edmonton Elks want to hear all the cheers, applause, and barks this weekend.
Yes, barks.
The Elks are in action against the BC Lions at Commonwealth Stadium Friday night, and it’s one that dog lovers will not want to miss.
Themed as “Dog Days of Summer,” fans are encouraged to bring their dogs to the stadium. It is the first time the organization has allowed fans to bring dogs to a football game.

Fans who bring their dogs will have their own special entrance into the stadium and their own section to sit in. There will also be plenty of puppy-friendly options going on both before and during the game, including a pregame tailgate party, treats, and even a pool in case any of the dogs need to cool off.
There is even a “bark-and-ride” shuttle that will take fans to and from the game, which costs fans just $20 total.

Of course, fans planning on bringing their dogs should note that it may be a stressful environment for some pups.
Along with the loud noises that come from a sporting event, there are also fireworks shot off every time the Elks score a touchdown. It’s also supposed to reach a high of 30°C, though it may already be cooling down by the time the game gets underway at 7 p.m. MDT.
While it will be a fun outing for fans, it will be a massive one for the Elks themselves, who have gotten off to an impressive 4-1 start this season. With a win, they have an opportunity to take over sole possession of first place in the West Division.
