Edmonton Elks Grey Cup odds have skyrocketed

The Edmonton Elks were not supposed to be this good.

Heading into the 2026 CFL season, expectations were tempered for the Elks. They were coming off a 7-11 season where they finished last in the West Division, and the hope was that the team could take a step toward being a playoff contender.

It seems as though they’ve taken more than a few steps, however, pulling together an impressive 4-1 record through the first six weeks of the season. That is good enough to put them in a tie for first place in the West with the Saskatchewan Roughriders.

The hot start has seen Edmonton’s Grey Cup odds go from +1900 at the start of the season all the way up to +650, according to FanDuel Canada.

Edmonton has not qualified for the CFL playoffs since 2019.

Only the Roughriders (+410) and Montreal Alouettes (+195) are holding better odds to win the Grey Cup.

Edmonton has not enjoyed this good a start to a CFL season in quite some time. The last time the franchise started this good came back in 2017, when they rattled off seven straight wins to start the year.

It’s quite a contrast to how the Elks have fared early on the past few seasons, where they fell behind the pack with a 0-3 start in 2025 and a dismal 0-7 start in 2024. It took them until week 12 to reach four wins last season.

So, what has changed for this iteration of the Elks? It starts on the defensive line, as Edmonton has allowed the least amount of points against in the entire CFL so far. They’ve also gotten great performances out of running back Justin Rankin and quarterback Cody Farjardo.

This would be an ideal year for the Elks to break through, as the Grey Cup is set to be hosted in Calgary on Nov. 15. It would be sweet for Edmonton to not only win it all on Alberta soil but also to be crowned champions in the city of their biggest rival.

It’s been a while since Edmonton CFL fans have had a good team to root for, and the hope is that the Elks can keep the good times rolling into November.
