A busy intersection in north Edmonton just closed until November
A busy intersection in north Edmonton just closed for the next three months as crews continue work on the Yellowhead Trail freeway conversion project.
According to the City of Edmonton, 121st Street at Yellowhead Trail will be closed from Sept. 1 to the end of November, weather permitting.
The closure is part of the Yellowhead Conversion project between St. Albert Trail and 97th Street and will allow crews to work more efficiently following significant rainfall earlier this summer.
Two lanes of traffic will remain open in each direction on Yellowhead Trail.
A new temporary westbound-to-southbound left turn will be available at 107th Street to help traffic travelling toward NAIT, Epcor, and businesses in the Kingsway area.

Drivers can expect increased traffic on nearby routes, including 97th Street, 107th Street, 127th Street and St. Albert Trail, and 118th Avenue, which will remain open.
Access to Via Rail will remain available from 121st Street via 118th Avenue.
The City encourages drivers to plan ahead, allow for extra time and follow posted signs through the area.
The temporary closure is expected to reduce the overall duration of construction impacts.
The Yellowhead Trail project will ultimately turn the route into a freeway with three lanes of free-flowing traffic in each direction.
