Remembrance Day screening at the Royal Alberta Museum

What: This Remembrance Day, join the Royal Alberta Museum for a special screening of Cree Code Talker, a powerful film that shares the story of Canadian Cree code talker Charles “Checker” Tomkins and his role during the Second World War. At a time when Indigenous languages were banned in Canada, Cree was being used on the front lines to save lives. Through interviews, rare audio recordings, archival footage, and a brother’s memories, this film pays tribute to a forgotten war hero. Alongside the screening, the museum will also feature artifacts from other Indigenous veterans who contributed to Canada’s war efforts during the Second World War.
