A new refined sports bar and restaurant has just opened in Edmonton

A brand-new refined sports bar concept has just opened its doors in Edmonton.
The Alfred, a new bar and restaurant concept, has officially opened in Edmonton’s iconic Mercer Warehouse, just a stone’s throw from Rogers Place.
Named after warehouse architect Alfred Merigon Calderon, The Alfred’s old-world meets modern luxury vibe has been inspired by some of the world’s most iconic venues, including The Ned in London and The Drake Hotel in Toronto.
The spot has been brought to life by local bar and restaurant entrepreneur Kris Harvey and The Gather Co’s Devin Pope, who wanted to bring a “fresh approach” to the space, offering a refined alternative to the traditional sports bar experience.

The Alfred offers shareable plates featuring locally sourced ingredients on its menu, and it plans to have rotating local guest chefs.
The spot also has a martini-focused bar menu, with a wide selection of premium spirits and plenty of Alberta-made products behind the bar.
“We’ve created a space that balances a cool luxury vibe with premium drinks and modern, locally inspired eats. While we’re still a great spot to catch a game next to Rogers Place, this isn’t your typical sports bar,” Harvey says.
“Whether you’re sipping a curated martini, sharing a margarita tree with friends, or enjoying a local beer on tap, we want Edmontonians to feel the difference. With playoffs around the corner, the timing couldn’t be better to introduce The Alfred to the city.”
The Alfred is open Thursday through Saturday and for all Rogers Place events. Its half-price happy hour runs on Thursdays and Fridays between 4 and 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday evenings will also see DJs take over.
