South Edmonton just got an all-new sushi omakase restaurant
Edmonton can thank Sushi Bar Goshen for bringing the omakase experience south of the river.
Omakase has been making its rounds in the Edmonton culinary scene, and the restaurants just seem to be multiplying. The newest addition is Sushi Bar Goshen, an authentic experience led by chefs with over 20 years of experience. Not to mention, with only 10 seats available at the bar, it’ll make for an exclusive, intimate night.
If you aren’t familiar, omakase in Japanese directly translates to “I’ll leave it up to you.” These chef-curated dinners are left completely in their hands and are most commonly associated with sushi courses.
“With deep respect for Japanese culinary tradition and a passion for thoughtful dining, we are dedicated to offering an experience that is both refined and personal — where every ingredient, every detail, and every encounter carries intention,” says the team on Instagram. “More than serving sushi, we hope to share memorable moments around the counter, build lasting connections, and welcome each guest as part of the Sushi Bar Goshen story.”

This new restaurant officially started its soft opening phase on Wednesday, June 3. To start, they’ll be serving lunch and dinner on weekdays as well as a weekend dinner service.
The seafood is imported directly from Japan with preparation that attends to every single detail. For the menu itself, it’ll change from day to day, but you can see the course menu on their Instagram the morning of your tasting. Although do be aware that dishes are subject to change even after being announced.

Weekdays are walk-in friendly at the beginning of every hour, but if you’re looking to walk in on weekends, you’ll only be accepted at 5 p.m., 7 p.m., or 9 p.m., according to their Instagram. Even then, you may be rejected if all the seats are filled.
It is open from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday, while evening hours are extended from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. On Tuesdays, the restaurant is closed.
