Environment Canada has issued a Weather Warning for Edmonton and surrounding areas, as snow is expected to accumulate throughout the day.

Commuters should also expect a slower commute than usual, with Environment Canada saying that as heavy bands of snow move through central Alberta, including the Edmonton Metro, visibility will be greatly reduced.

Snow is expected to accumulate quickly, with 10 to 15 centimetres expected throughout the day.

The Weather Warning is currently in effect for the City of Edmonton, St. Albert, and Sherwood Park.

The snow will likely stick around throughout the week, and drivers are being asked by Edmonton Police to take extra precautions when driving in order to stay safe.
