Popular Edmonton smash burger trailer has opened its own restaurant
From food trailer to full-on restaurant, Rival Burger’s new storefront in Edmonton has entered its soft-opening phase in a spot some may already be familiar with.
Last weekend, on Sept. 25, Rival Burger, a popular smash burger food trailer and vendor at Queen Mary’s Market, announced it’d be opening its doors to its new Ritchie location in the city. The business will no longer be operating at Queen Mary’s Market, but will continue to have the trailer.
This new spot will be featuring multiple pool tables, its signature smash burgers with crispy edges and grilled onions, and, according to a comment on Instagram, live music as well.
As for where it’s opening in Ritchie, the new restaurant will be taking over the old Blue Chair location. The neighbourhood cafe shut down earlier this year after over 20 years of business, which means Rival Burger has some pretty big shoes to fill.

According to a post by the restaurant on Instagram, the business is still awaiting things like its AGLC liquor license, but they wanted to “get the ball rolling.”
Since opening on Sept. 25, the business has noted that its new restaurant’s store hours will be Tuesday to Sunday from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Besides its raved-about burgers, you can play a game or two of pool and check out the mural painted by a local artist inside. If you find yourself in the neighbourhood, this new space is definitely worth checking out.
