This Edmonton neighbourhood cafe will be closing after 22 years of business

From 2004 to 2026, this Edmonton cafe has had a great run.
The Blue Chair Cafe just announced it’d be closing its doors on April 26, 2026, after 22 years of business in Edmonton. This cafe has been serving the Ritchie community for a long time, and it’s a shame to see it close after such a tremendous amount of time in the city.

Blue Chair isn’t just a cafe or restaurant, it’s a great performance venue which has been alive for many years.
“We have had the pleasure of hosting local and international artists as well as up-and-coming artists. We are proud to have had the opportunity to meet and work with so many amazing people,” says the team behind Blue Chair on its website.
Not only that, but it’s been a staple neighbourhood spot. There’s history and memories in this place that will never be forgotten.
“We have had couples meet here and get married here,” the team says. “We have had functions and many memorable moments. Thank you all for your support over the last 22 years.”
Every Wednesday to Sunday from now until the 26th, there will be a performance held at Blue Chair. With singers from Toronto on some days and students from MacEwan on others, there’s a guaranteed good time no matter which night you’re going out.
Show some love to the Blue Chair in the last couple of weeks, and support the community while you can. You won’t want to regret missing out on one of their last featured performances.
