Record number of Canadians are now playing in England's Premier League
The 2026-27 Premier League season has officially kicked off, and there’s a record number of Canadian men’s national team players on rosters across the league this season.
As the transfer window wraps up on Aug. 31, there are five Canadian players on Premier League rosters, with several already making their debuts for their respective clubs on opening weekend.
Here’s a look at the Canadian players in the Premier League and the teams they are playing for.
Promise David (Brighton & Hove Albion)
Just last week, the Brampton-born striker was acquired by English Premier League side Brighton & Hove Albion on a season-long loan from Belgian side Royale Union Saint-Gilloise, with an obligation to buy.

David did not play in Brighton’s 4-0 opening-day victory over Aston Villa, but could see his first Premier League minutes in one of the team’s upcoming fixtures against Chelsea or Leeds United.
Luc De Fougerolles (Fulham)
De Fougerolles was one of the stand-out players for Canada at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, and his club, Fulham, has decided that the 20-year-old will not head out on loan this season.
Instead, he’ll remain with the club’s first team and look to earn minutes in the Premier League.

De Fougerolles was left on the bench for Fulham’s 3-2 opening-day loss to London rivals Chelsea, but could see minutes in the club’s upcoming EFL Cup match against League One side AFC Wimbledon.
Liam Millar (Hull City)
Millar was a staple in Canada’s XI at the FIFA World Cup, and now he’s playing a major role for his club, Hull City.
This is Millar’s third year with the club and his first season in the Premier League. Hull City opened its campaign with a 2-0 win over Manchester United, with Millar coming off the bench in the 71st minute to help his team hold onto its commanding lead.

He also wore the captain’s armband and recorded an assist in Hull City’s EFL Cup win over Stoke City on Tuesday.
If Millar continues his stellar play, he’ll likely be the Canadian on this list with the most minutes played by the end of the season.
Tom McGill (Brighton & Hove Albion)
McGill is the only Canadian goalkeeper on a Premier League roster, serving as Brighton & Hove Albion’s third-string option.
The 26-year-old could see minutes for the club in EFL Cup or FA Cup play this season, but Premier League action remains unlikely unless one of the goalkeepers ahead of him goes down with an injury.
McGill was not one of the three goalkeepers selected for Canada’s 2026 FIFA World Cup squad. His last national team call-up came during a 2025 fixture against Wales, and he’s yet to start a game.
Daniel Jebbison (AFC Bournemouth)
Jebbison made his season debut this past weekend as a late substitute for AFC Bournemouth against Manchester City.

The 23-year-old came on in the 75th minute, completed five passes and recorded a shot on target.
Jebbison spent the last two seasons on loan in the second tier of English football and was left off Canada’s 2026 FIFA World Cup squad.
