Old Strathcona is known for its eclectic, artsy vibe, with everything from buskers and festivals to vibrant murals tucked around the neighbourhood.

The Old Strathcona Business Association has put together a mural map, an illustrated guide to more than 70 works of art scattered through its side streets and alleyways.

Each mural is numbered on the map, so you can easily track down exactly what you’re looking for.

You could easily spend all afternoon wandering the district — there’s just so much to take in. One standout is Urban Wildlife (number 21 on the map), created by Trash Hectic Collective for Nextfest in 2019. You’ll find it tucked in the alley at 10158 82nd Ave.

Another favourite is the Mr. Chi Pig mural, listed as No. 15 on the map. The piece honours Mr. Chi Pig, the late frontman of the punk band SNFU. It was painted in 2021 by Layla Folkmann and Lacey Lane Wilburn and is located on the east wall of The Buckingham at 10439 82nd Ave.
