The Edmonton Oilers are bringing UFA forward Jack Roslovic into the fold.
Midway through the team’s home opener against the Calgary Flames, the Oilers announced that they had signed the 28-year-old Roslovic to a one-year deal that carries a $1.5 million cap hit.
Roslovic has bounced around in recent years, most recently putting up 22 goals and 39 points with the Carolina Hurricanes last season.

Roslovic was one of the only noteworthy free agents left on the market. He was skating in Columbus while unsigned, but now he will make his way to the Alberta capital.
Former #CBJ Jack Roslovic, who had 22 goals for #RaiseUp last season, remains the NHL’s top unsigned free agent. He’s skating every other day at a suburban rink in Columbus, his hometown.

This comes after reports broke last month that Roslovic had declined an offer from Edmonton earlier in the summer. He had been linked to several other teams over the offseason, including the rival Vancouver Canucks.
The acquisition means another player may be knocked off the NHL roster, but who that could be isn’t obvious. Roslovic plays centre, a position of strength for the Oilers with all Connor McDavid, Leon Draisaitl, Ryan Nugent-Hopkins, Noah Philp, and Adam Henrique able to slot in down the middle.
There is a good chance that the Columbus, Ohio, native will be moved to the wing on this Oilers roster.
It also isn’t exactly clear when Roslovic could make his Oilers debut. Considering he did not participate in a training camp or any preseason games, Edmonton may decide to give him more time to warm up in practice.
