The Edmonton Oilers have a new defenceman in the organization.
Damien Carfagna, a 22-year-old defenceman with Ohio State University, has signed with the Oilers as an undrafted college free agent. The Wood Ridge, New Jersey native signed a two-year, entry-level contract beginning in the 2025-26 season.
Carfagna played three years of NCAA hockey, making the move from the University of New Hampshire to Ohio State in 2023. The six-foot, 185-pound blueliner scored 28 points (7-21-28) in 38 games last season, which ranked fifth on his team.

It’s college free-agent signing season, as the NCAA hockey season wraps up. Ohio State saw its run to the Frozen Four cut short last week.
Just four teams remain, as one of Denver, Western Michigan, Penn State, or Boston University will be crowned national champions south of the border.
